The Basic Peer Support Training program is designed to equip first responders with the professional skills needed to recognize and help to mitigate the effects of personal and work-related stress in their first responder peers. The program focuses on developing basic peer support skills aligned with critical incident stress management (CISM), enhancing listening and problem-solving skills, and understanding current data regarding trauma, stress, coping and treatment.
Training is based around the most effective peer support models found to help First Responders with various trauma or stress-related mental health issues.
